{Q} How much does it cost?
{A} My pricing can be split into 2 parts; The Session Fee, and Photographic Art purchases.
My Luxury Portrait session fee is $250.00 and includes hair, make-up, styling, bringing someone with you (up to 6 total), access to my studio wardrobe, coaching on pose and expression, and a reveal session where you see an edited collection of the best images ready for you to choose from.
OR
If you want to skip the pamper treatment and arrive "photo-ready" for your session, you can pay a deposit of $150 to hold your date and it will be credited to your image purchase.
Images are purchased separately starting at $150.00 each and they go up from there. There are no minimum purchase requirements, so what you purchase is entirely up to you. My clients spend about $1800.00 on average with me. You won’t have to make that decision until your ordering session and you only buy what you love! My job is to make sure you love them all.
{Q} Do you accept payment plans?
{A} Yes, I offer in-house payment plans to split your payments up for you. I offer up to a 6 months time period. All payments must be completed in full before your order is placed with the lab.
{Q} Where will the Photoshoot be?
{A} Currently my home studio in Brighton, MO is under construction. I will be renting local studio space, shooting in your home, or various locations. I do shoot on location during warmer weather months. I offer the opportunity to do some looks in the studio and then move to the location. Location-based sessions can be very limiting because of weather conditions, time of year, and time of day, but can offer something really special as well.
{Q} When will I see my pictures?
{A} After your session or Video Conference, about 2 weeks after your session for your order session. During this session, you will be shown a collection of at least 20 of the best images from your photoshoot. I’ll show you some ways you can package your images together and you’ll have the option to purchase images al la carte.
{Q} Can I keep my images private?
{A} Absolutely! I love having fresh work to feature on my social media, and website, and in my marketing is necessary to educate future clients about my level of work, but I only want to feature clients that are excited to be featured. I send out a post-session questionnaire with questions about specifically how you want your images to be shared. You can choose to only show anonymous images or only images that are covered. You may also choose for your images to be shared, but not until after a specific date. That way you can still be featured on my social media, but no worry about spoiling any surprises.
{Q} What should I wear?
{A} That really depends on what style of session you are going for. We’ll discuss styling when planning for your session. I’ll coach you on how to look at your closet with new eyes. There are many very simple wardrobe pieces that can be very stylish in a photoshoot. Depending on whether you are planning a professional look, something glamorous, something with the family, or even something a little saucier.
I have a small studio wardrobe that is growing all the time, which you’ll have access to during your session. If there is something particular you have in mind, renting might be a more affordable option than purchasing.
{Q} When do you schedule photoshoots?
{A} I schedule sessions from 10 am until 2 pm, Tuesdays through Friday. I schedule sunset sessions around the sunlight, so those are generally in the evening on location. I do offer evening and weekend sessions as an add-on for $100 added to your session fee.
Fridays tend to be the fastest day to fill up because my clients like to take a day off from work, pamper themselves and enjoy a long weekend.
{Q} Can I bring someone along with me to my session?
{A} Definitely! This can be a nice way to feel even more secure if you’re a little nervous, especially for sessions that include levels of undress. I recommend bringing people who are your natural cheerleaders, this is YOUR time and you don’t want to bring anyone who might struggle with seeing you get a little pampered. Your best girlfriend, mom, or even a sister might be a good choice. There are some men out there who can relate to this experience and appreciate it for what it is, unfortunately, some guys may not understand. Most of my clients feel perfectly safe doing this alone once they have met me. My client’s comfort is the most important, but that is also why I recommend not bringing people with you just to hang out. You aren’t going to want to have to worry about what other people are doing during your session.
{Q} Do you Photoshop your images?
{A} Yes, I do. I shoot in a RAW image size which gives me the most amount of digital information to process high-quality images. These image formats require post-processing before saving them into usable files and beautiful prints. At a bare minimum, my images are raw processed to optimize the file for its intended use. All of my images will have the lighting, and color modified to create aesthetic harmony.
I also make adjustments to purchased images. I even out skin tones, I remove distracting stray hairs, I remove blemishes, I sharpen and brighten eyes, and whiten teeth. My general rule of thumb is to give my client a digital “spa treatment”, if it’s anything that would look diminished from a relaxing spa weekend, I adjust it. If it’s more permanent, I try to leave it alone. I want your images to look like you, just you on a good day.
If there is something that you are concerned about, talk to me about it. I’m always going to prefer to flatter my clients with good styling, lighting, and poses, but if softening an under eye or removing a scar is going to allow my clients to look past these things we fixate on and see how beautiful they are, then I’m all for it. Photoshop is a tool, it’s not meant to “fix” people. We tend to fixate on parts of ourselves, but maybe in the right lighting, you might not dislike that part so much after all.
{Q} How should I prepare for my session?
{A} Typically that will depend on the styling you want to achieve for your session. We’ll have a phone call to make some plans for your photo session. I’ll give you specific instructions according to the styling you are going for. You may want to make simple hair and make-up adjustments in between looks. It will be easier to plan what order we start with so that the make-up and hair transition well between looks.
My standard preparation instructions for a Luxury Portrait Session would be to come in with clean, dry hair to be heat styled. I would also recommend a clean, moisturized face to be prepared for make-up application. I always recommend drinking plenty of water, getting good sleep, exfoliating your skin, and using lotion to show your skin off at its best during your session. To avoid those “I wish I would have…” I also recommend touching up your roots, getting your nails done in a neutral tone, and being very intentional about what jewelry you want to wear. I recommend avoiding fake tanner or sun exposure before your session to keep your skin tones looking natural.
I always recommend preparing all your outfits ahead of time on hangers, with matching underwear and jewelry for each look, pressed and lint-free. This will make the morning of your photo session more organized and help cut down on the “day of” stress.
{Q} Do you photograph Boudoir or “sexy” images?
{A} Absolutely! As I specialize in photographing and empowering women, photographing women in a sensual way is a big part of my brand. My style does reflect the empowering side of what I do. I photograph women in more of a body love style, with a focus on the body rather than the face. A look at the whole woman as a sensual being, but not an object. My style and poses offer a feminine perspective, rather than images styled for the male gaze. I’m learning that my style is somewhat romantic, and I think that is because I want my client to fall in love with themselves in their images.
Your nudity level is up to your comfort level. We can do some beautiful implied nudity with comfortable undies on and a piece of fabric. Implied nudity is about as nude as I get. I don’t photograph any full frontal, any hands-on crouch, or couples. I don’t photograph women in any erotic poses sexually explicit. My poses and mood of my images appeal more to my client loving being in her own skin and celebrating her body.
Because my brand includes sensitive nature images, my practices also include some safety and privacy steps. My clients use a private dressing room with a lock on the door. I keep a freshly washed robe available for covering and maintaining your comfort level around the set. These sessions are in my home studio which maintains a level of privacy and comfort. I do have a husband and a teenage son, they are very familiar with our practices when a client is in and especially when a client may be at varying levels of undress. Because I know the privacy of your images is very important, I send out a questionnaire with questions about how you would prefer your images to be shared or not shared. I believe women should always have control over how their images are used, especially images of women’s bodies.
