Mothers are the best! Frankly, none of us would be here without them. We can all agree that moms are pretty great. I would also say that being a mother is pretty special. I never thought I would learn so much about myself and life in general from being a mom. My son has challenged me in more ways than I could have imagined and I wouldn’t have it any other way, well maybe a little less challenging if I could help it…
As a photographer, I find the relationship between mother and child moving in images. It’s funny because the smaller children are, the cuter they are regardless of what they do. Which makes them both difficult to photograph and easy to get a great picture of. We can’t help but love their little faces, especially when it’s a face we didn’t expect them to make! They grow up too fast as it is and those silly faces fade into more serious ones, so we enjoy them while we can.
It would be my wish for every mother to have beautiful images of their growing babies at every stage of their lives. Often moms avoid the camera, but when we see images of ourselves with our own little heart thieves, we love those pictures. I would capture you and your babies every year and create beautiful wall art to hang on your walls if I could. Children who grow up in homes with family photos on the walls grow up to be happier and more secure adults. Pictures have a way of reminding us that we are loved.
I would photograph every mother, every year to leave a legacy of love and family history to that mother’s children, especially for her daughters. One day all we will have will be memories. Our pictures create our legacy.
