I’m so excited to show you all this session with Mona and Cameron! Cameron is a precious & happy 6-month-old. He is Mona and David’s world and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to capture this time at his young age. They grow so fast! We kept the session sets quick and simple with 2 main sets; one a blue color set with rich texture and colors, and a high contrast black and white. Cameron has better things to do as he is growing and learning so much at this time in his life, so we want to keep his session centered around what he needs. Luckily we had David come to help care for Cameron and as a bonus, we were able to get these images with all his happy and playful expressions that were for David. Cameron was so happy and ready to play with his daddy, David.
This wardrobe had its limits, Mona managed it well while holding onto a slippery baby. I styled Mona in a large piece of stretch velvet and a matching piece of satin to wrap Cameron in. I love the reflection from the textures of the fabric and overall I am really happy with how the color tones worked out for this set. I wanted to get plenty of interaction-style images of Mona and Cameron. I made sure to capture a traditional portrait as well. These sessions are so much fun as we are all just playing with Cameron and interacting with him. The studio was filled with cooing and baby giggles.
For the second set, Mona and Cameron wore dark clothes knowing they would be set in black and white. I love that Mona’s wardrobe allows her to move around more comfortably and sit on the floor etc. I love the simplicity of this set because I feel that it really draws me into their connection and expressions. This is such a precious time when playing means peek-a-boo and raspberries. Play and interaction are so innocent, he’s just absorbing everything around him. Cameron is such an expressive little guy, I’m so glad we were able to capture so many sides of his personality.
I see David in the images where I remember Cameron interacting with his daddy. I’m so glad I got these images of Mona and Cameron, but I want to encourage everyone to get family pictures, get pictures with each member together, and get pictures as a couple. I find that so often moms are behind the camera capturing those moments when dad is holding a sleeping baby etc. Moms are also the ones who try to avoid getting in the picture if they don’t feel prepared. That’s why it’s been a priority for me to create a space for mothers to come and be pampered. I want to keep this experience as stress-free as possible so that my clients can have a wonderful experience and are left with beautiful images that will last a lifetime. When Cameron’s little baby cheeks turn into more grown cheeks, these pictures will still be around.
These sessions really fill me up. I feel so grateful to be able to create these images for this family. Now I feel grateful to be able to share these images with you. I hope to inspire more mothers to get in front of the camera and be seen. Your children will be so grateful.
Go ahead and leave these two some love in the comments!
