Good skincare makes such a big difference when applying make-up and how your skin will appear on camera. Especially during these dry winter months, it’s nice to give your skin a little extra attention from time to time. If you’re planning a photoshoot, these are some tips you can use ahead of time. You never want to try new completely new things directly before your photoshoot, but a couple of weeks should allow some time in case you have a reaction that you weren’t going for. In this video, I give you a very detailed run-through of my favorite tips for beautiful, glowing skin. It’s a bit of a long one, but if you’re dealing with dull skin, you don’t have to settle. I’m not an expert, but having beautiful, glowing skin is not rocket science and it can be surprisingly affordable. Please do your own research on what products and practices are best for your skin. Get to know some of the more common active ingredients in products, what you should be looking for, and what you should stay away from. Beauty and hygiene products can be pretty gimmicky, so watch out for stuff that’s not actually effective. I prefer fewer ingredients, just keep it simple.
I go into detail in the video, but here I’m going to try to take my own advice and keep it simple.
Tip # 1
My first tip is to hydrate. Drink your water! We are mostly made up of water and every organ in our bodies requires hydration. A sure sign you need to be more hydrated is dry lips, if you feel the need to put chapstick on, you might want to grab a glass of water as well.
Tip # 2
My second tip is to stay out of the sun. As a bonus, you’ll lower your risk of skin cancer. If you can’t stay completely out of the sun, then wear good sunscreen. Sun damage also accelerates aging. Aging is part of life, it’s one of those for sure things like death and taxes, but rather than trying to stop the inevitable, just do your best to take care of your skin in advance. You may not be a fair-skinned ginger me, but sun damage still occurs in all skin types. If you were only going to use one tip, this is the one I would recommend.
Tip # 3
My third tip is to exfoliate. This is one of my favorite tips! Not everyone’s skin will need to be exfoliated as much as mine, but my skin tends to feel dull and rough when I skip this step. Make sure that you aren’t using something that will damage your skin, we’re going for glowing, not needing to heal so nothing rough that will scrape. I prefer chemical exfoliants, for this reason, it cleans the dead skin off and leaves you with baby fresh skin.
Tip # 4
My fourth tip is to use masks for targeted skincare. In the video, I talk about my favorite masks and why. As I’ve said before and I’ll keep saying it; be careful of junk products.
Tip # 5
My final tip is to moisturize for your skin type. Never skip the moisturizer, just make sure that you are using the best moisturizer for your skin type. Skin oils and serums tend to pack more punch with the active ingredients and layering them properly can make sure that your skin is well moisturized.
