So maybe you’ve seen a picture of someone and thought to yourself, “Wow, that is really beautiful, but I don’t have a dress like that”. In reality, it may be easier to get that dream look than you know. First of all, I’m constantly growing my studio wardrobe. I have a blog that shows many of the pieces I own, but I also have about 9 pieces that I’ve acquired and haven’t even photographed yet. I will keep updating the blog and posting stories on Instagram when I get new dresses, but that is really typical. It’s hard to keep up because I offer a dress trade for credit (I also have a blog post about that) and I am always on the hunt.
Maybe you want something special, that is just YOUR look. You could always buy something specifically for your photoshoot and then you own it. I recommend for my clients ask friends as well. We tend to have closets full of dresses we’ve only worn once and would be happy to loan to a buddy for a special shoot. However, there is yet ANOTHER option: Rent the Runway. Rent the Runway is a clothing rental company that makes the whole process super simple. They cater to quite a lot of really glamorous looks as well as cute little summer dresses.
One of the things I really LOVE about Rent the Runway is that they have LOTS of size options! Because anyone who has done much shopping knows that sure you might find the outfit you love, but that doesn’t mean it’s in your size. There are some sizes that are more difficult to find than others because often retailers seem to think that you only want to look cute if you’re a size zero, but that’s a whole discussion in itself. What I really want to get across to you, the reader, the person looking at my website thinking that you could never get a “look” like that. You totally can! You can find really cool stuff in lots of sizing options and for a fraction of the price of buying it, by RENTING it.
Check. Out. Their. Website.
No, this isn’t the free way to do it. For “included in your session fee” looks, check out my blog about what I have available and for “hanging in a closet not being used”, check out your friend’s closet.
