What Photography Means to Me

When you have lost people you love, photograpghs take on a whole new weight.

The first thing most families do after a wedding, the birth of a child, birthdays, graduations, etc is reaching for the family album to compare likeness. We are on a constant journey to find who we are, which keeps us curious about where we came from. Every portrait is another piece of your family legacy.

Let's create images that are timeless and will outlive us. As someone who has no living parents or grandparents, I can tell you that a great image of you is the best gift you can give your family. It's important to exist in photographs because one day your children will be looking for photos of you, what will they find?

Many of us have become very comfortable with digital images. We upload them to social media, keep them in the cloud or on hard drives and think that they are safe. I can tell you that nothing is as safe as heat sealed, museum quality framed prints. Keep the quality and preserve an heirloom for your family that will outlive you. I love how that everyone has a camera on their cell phones and can take pictures all the time, but is that latest selfie the only legacy you will leave? Timeless, elegant portraits will never go out of style.

When you ask most people what they would grab first if their house was on fire, after getting the people and pets that they love out, most people will tell you about an album, box of pictures, or family heirloom they would grab.

The best part is that with technology, photographers like me can offer incredibly high-quality images within weeks, printed on the best papers, with the best inks, with the best machines, taken on the best cameras. Your images can be preserved in high grade, museum quality glass, in heat-sealed frames that will easily last one hundred years without fading or crinkling. What a world we live in today!
